Ukraine intends to increase exports of agricultural products to Poland – experts
The bilateral cooperation in the agriculture industry was discussed at the fifth meeting of the Ukrainian-Polish working group on agriculture, which took place in Warsaw on February 27, the press service of the Agrarian Policy and Food Ministry reported.
"Ukraine and Poland are interested in increasing the turnover of agricultural products. In particular, Ukraine is ready to increase exports of meat and by-products, oil, corn, rapeseed, fruits, nuts and citron, ready-made food products," the report says.
Deputy Agrarian Policy Minister Olena Kovaleva noted that Poland is among the TOP 10 countries with which Ukraine has the largest trade turnover.
She also stressed that the main areas of bilateral cooperation between Ukraine and Poland are veterinary medicine; crop production; organic seed farming; rural development; land relations; bringing the agricultural sector and agricultural regions of Ukraine in line with the EU requirements and standards; scientific and technical cooperation.
The Polish side, in turn, stated about intention to continue cooperation in existing areas and intensify new ones that can be jointly represented during the next meeting of the Ukrainian-Polish Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation.
As reported, the bilateral trade between Ukraine and Poland amounted to $1,069.33 million in 2017, which is 21% more than in 2016. Following the results of 11 months of 2018, the bilateral trade between the two countries amounted to $981.99 million, which is 2.4% more than in the same period of 2017.
