Decentralization is one of the basic reforms for Ukraine, the purpose of which is to change the existing administrative system and integrate Ukraine into the European Charter of Local Self-Government.

Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine Hennadiy Zubko made a corresponding statement at the round table meeting "Process of decentralization of Ukraine" held under the auspices of the EastWest Institute in Brussels on Tuesday, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.

“The support of the European Union is very important for us as each EU member state shares its best practices. We discuss with Germany the issues of energy efficiency and urban development; with Sweden – budgeting; Poland - introduction of the reform of administrative-territorial communities; Spain - the issue of heat supply. Each country gives most of its experience, and today we have the opportunity to implement it in Ukraine,” Zubko said.

The Vice Prime Minister noted that about 8,000 projects had been implemented over the past three years, including in the development of local self-government and related infrastructure.
