China intends to boost cooperation with the Ukrainian city of Mykolaiv in the implementation of infrastructure projects, particularly in the transport sector.

“A meeting of the city leaders with representatives of China Harbour Engineering Company Ltd (CHEC) was held in Mykolaiv City Council, during which the parties discussed possible areas of cooperation, in particular, in the transport industry,” the press service of Mykolaiv City Council reported.

According to the chief representative of China Harbour Engineering Company Ltd, the company has been operating in Ukraine for two years. “We know that Mykolaiv region is very attractive for investors, and it has many opportunities for development. I hope that the result of our work will be the development of infrastructure projects, on which we will work together,” he said.

Two years ago, the company won two large projects for dredging in ports of Ukraine, the cost of which was USD 40 million and USD 20 million respectively. Also, China Harbour Engineering Company Ltd has experience in other branches of infrastructure construction, while investing and operating activities are the main directions of its work.

“Various cities of Ukraine have recently focused on replacing urban passenger transport with electric buses. China Harbour Engineering Company Ltd is committed to making its contribution to the development of the Ukrainian industry. One of the companies in our consortium deals with electric buses. We have the opportunity to carry out operating activity during the implementation of such projects - we attract financing and provide services for maintenance of this transport,“ he said.

The Chinese investor made preliminary technical and commercial proposals for the purchase of electric buses.

The parties agreed to examine in detail the proposals and consider the possibilities of cooperation in the implementation of infrastructure projects.
