"The share of the European Union in the overall structure of Ukrainian exports is already 42.6% and is rapidly approaching 50%. Imagine: 50% of Ukrainian exports go to the world’s largest, the most reliable, the richest market - the European Union. It is not a promise, it is our deed," President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko said at a meeting of the Lviv Region Development Council on Saturday, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
He stressed that in 2018, Ukraine sold more goods to the European Union than ever before in the Ukrainian history, despite the ongoing war. According to the President, Lviv region is the leader of exports to the EU.
"Lviv region is one of the leaders in this market, it is most prepared for economic competition in the territory of the European Union. It does not need to be told how to sell its goods in Poland, in Romania, in Slovakia, or in Hungary. Our exports are secured by Lviv region locomotive," Poroshenko said.
He noted that the share of the European Union in the overall exports of Lviv region is 78.6%. In 2017, the exports grew by 22%.
The President stressed that signing of the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement, including Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area, played a significant role in the restoration of Ukraine’s economic growth.
