Infrastructure minister Omelyan: Development of Ukrainian transport infrastructure follows global trends
Ukrainian Infrastructure Minister Volodymyr Omelyan made a corresponding statement at the meeting of the high-level political section “Automation in Transport” within the framework of the 81st session of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) Inland Transport Committee in Geneva, the Ministry’s press service reports.
“The development of Ukrainian infrastructure is progressive and follows the global trends... The future of transport infrastructure and logistics lies in maximizing the automation of all the processes and minimizing the human factor. Therefore, the key areas of the Ministry's activity are the adoption of digital infrastructure and improving transport security,” the minister said.
Omelyan added that a number of ambitious projects were being implemented in Ukraine to automate the transport infrastructure and adopt innovative technologies.
“The HypeUA transportation technology center for the implementation of the Hyperloop technology in Ukraine, automated control systems on the railway, a single maritime window in the maritime industry and the E-Port electronic port management system, the e-ticket and electric vehicle market development in Ukraine, intelligent transport systems in the field of motor transport and traffic safety, including the automatic weighing system in the Weigh-in-Motion - all of these and other projects and initiatives today give a completely new quality of infrastructure, simplify international transit and logistics procedures in Ukraine,” Omelyan said.
According to him, the technologies not only modernize the Ukrainian transport infrastructure but also integrate it into the global transport systems, meeting the interests of Ukraine, the recommendations of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe and the Global Sustainable Development Goals approved by the UN General Assembly.
