Ukraine reduced gas imports by almost 25 percent last year

In 2018, Ukraine imported 10.6 billion cubic meters of gas, 24.8% down compared with 2017.

As the Energy and Coal Industry Ministry of Ukraine reports, the natural gas imports to Ukraine in 2018 amounted to 10.6 billion cubic meters, down 24.8% or 3.5 billion cubic meters compared with 2017.

The gas production in the country over the past year increased by 0.5% up to 20.9 billion cubic meters. In particular, NJSC Naftogaz of Ukraine produced 16.5 billion cubic meters of gas.

The gas consumption in Ukraine last year increased by 0.3% up to 32.3 billion cubic meters.

The transit of gas decreased: last year its volumes amounted to 86.776 billion cubic meters, down 7.1% compared with 2017.
