Ukraine presented the investment potential of the domestic mining industry at the Ukrainian Gas E&P Forum, which took place in London on January 29, the Energy and Coal Industry Ministry reports.

"During the forum, the presentation of economic and investment potential of Ukraine’s mining industry took place so that potential strategic investors can learn more about the investment opportunities of the subsoil use in Ukraine," reads the report.

During the event, Deputy Minister for European Integration Natalia Boyko stressed the importance of the government’s decision to conduct 12 tenders to conclude production-sharing agreements, which would increase the volume of natural gas extraction and reduce the dependence on energy imports.

"To increase natural gas production, a procedure of production-sharing agreements is foreseen. From a legal point of view, this kind of partnership between the state and the investor can provide the foreign investor with the highest level of investment protection available in Ukraine," said Boyko.

She also reminded that Ukraine in 2018 adopted the Law of Ukraine "On transparency in the extractive industries," which is aimed at the openness in natural resources management in the country and disclosure of government revenue from the mining sector.
