Ukraine receives first IMF tranche under new cooperation program - NBU

Ukraine has received $1.4 billion of the first tranche from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) under a new Stand-By Arrangement (SBA) program for Ukraine, approved by the IMF Board of Directors on December 18, 2018, the press service of the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) reported.

"Ukraine has received the first tranche within the new program of cooperation with the International Monetary Fund under the Stand-By Arrangement (SBA) program, adopted by the IMF Board of Directors on December 18, 2018. Due to the receipt of SDR 1 billion (equivalent to $1.4 billion) from the Fund, Ukraine’s international reserves grew to $ 20.1 billion as of December 21, 2018,” reads the report.

The NBU also noted that last time such a level of international reserves was recorded in January 2014.

The new SBA program envisages SDR 2.8 billion (equivalent to $ 3.9 billion) for Ukraine for a 14-month period.
