Ukraine plans to complete liquidation of over 40 banks

Ukraine's Deposit Guarantee Fund plans to complete next year the liquidation of over 40 banks that were transferred to its management during the 2014-2016 crisis.

The Deposit Guarantee Fund said in this a press release obtained by Ukrinform.

"Next year the Deposit Guarantee Fund plans to complete the liquidation of more than 40 banks that were transferred to its management during the crisis of 2014-2016," the statement says.

The fund notes that the disbanding of the first four financial institutions was completed this year. In two of them - PJSC Klasykbank and PJSC Derzhzembank, the claims of all creditors were satisfied, and the remaining property was transferred to the banks' shareholders.

After the closure of the other two banks - Bank Tavrika and Erde Bank, the claims of creditors for the amount of almost UAH 1.2 billion remained unsatisfied. The cases on collecting these funds from bank-related individuals are currently in the courts.

At the same time, UAH 489.1 million was paid to depositors of insolvent banks in 2019.
