NBU expects to receive a tranche from IMF by Christmas holidays

The National Bank of Ukraine expects to get a tranche to the tune of $1.4-1.9 billion under the new program of the IMF-Ukraine cooperation by Christmas holidays.

"The meeting of the IMF Executive Board is scheduled for Tuesday, December 18, where the Ukrainian issue will be considered. We look forward to a positive decision and we hope to get the next tranche after the decision is adopted, i.e., by Christmas holidays. We expect to get a tranche worth USD 1.4-1.9 billion. It’s a preliminary forecast. The final sum will be revealed after the Executive Board meeting," NBU governor Yakiv Smoliy said at a briefing, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

As reported, on October 19, the International Monetary Fund and the Ukrainian authorities reached an agreement at the level of the Fund’s experts regarding a new Stand-By Arrangement to the tune of $3.9 billion.
