Infrastructure minister Omelyan announces launch of China-EU container train via Ukraine

The decision to launch a China-Poland container train through the territory Ukraine has already been finalized.

 “The decisions on launch of a container train between China and the European Union have been finalized today. [The train will run] between China and Poland, in fact, via the territory of Ukraine. We expect the number of such trains to be about a thousand per year,” Ukraine’s Infrastructure Minister Volodymyr Omelyan said at a joint press conference with Minister of Infrastructure of the Republic of Poland Andrzej Adamczyk, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

The minister added that he had discussed with his Polish colleague the further cooperation regarding the new railway links between Ukraine and Poland.

As reported, Ukrainian Infrastructure Minister Volodymyr Omelyan met with Director-General of the European Commission for Mobility and Transport Henrik Hololei and agreed on launching the procedure for road transport liberalisation. The meeting was held in Brussels on December 3.
