USA: Small modular reactors among promising projects for Ukraine

The United States considers it possible to further develop the nuclear industry in Ukraine using small modular reactor (SMR) technology.
U.S. Secretary of Energy Rick Perry said this at the American Chamber of Commerce in Ukraine, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.
“We have some nuclear power projects in Ukraine. Speaking about promising projects, I would like to see a project on the use of small modular reactors in Ukraine,” Perry said.
As reported, Ukraine's nuclear energy generating company Energoatom and the American company Holtec International cooperate in the area of exploring the possibility of introducing small modular reactors SMR-160 in Ukraine and deploying the production of equipment for them at Ukrainian enterprises.
