Ukraine attracted $1 billion of direct foreign investments in the first half of 2018, according to First Vice Prime Minister - Minister for Economic Development and Trade Stepan Kubiv.

“The government managed to achieve increased investment activity in Ukraine - attracting investments not only from existing, but also from new foreign companies. In the first half of 2018, the inflow of direct investments made up more than $1 billion," Kubiv said at a government meeting on Wednesday, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.

According to the first vice prime minister, since 2015, with the participation of foreign investors, 80 factories have been built or are currently under construction.

“The largest investors are Germany, Turkey, the UK, Hungary, and Japan. The EU accounts for 75% of the new capacities introduced through a private-investment partnership,” Kubiv added.

According to him, the motor vehicle industry is of particular interest to investors.

As reported, foreign direct investment in Ukraine in 2017 amounted to $1,871.2 million (share capital).
