General Electric representative advocates for local cooperation in Ukraine

Localization of the General Electric locomotive building in Ukraine will allow developing regions, modernizing infrastructure and expanding the digital services market.

“Localization is real. It will help develop regions, as it was in Kazakhstan, India and South Africa. We want to share high-quality technologies with Ukrainians locally. People will be needed to service the locomotives, the functions should be delegated to local engineers. We hope that locomotive building will actively develop during the implementation of the cooperation contract. It is a matter of capacities and time. Localization will allow accumulating the potential of contractors, and more orders will appear in the regions, as it was in Pennsylvania, the USA,” Justin Downs, the Executive Director of the Supply Chain International Operations Department at the General Electric Transportation, said during a visit to Kyiv, the press service of PJSC Ukrzaliznytsya (Ukrainian Railways) reports.

According to him, the next 2-3 months will be crucial and will demonstrate how cooperation on localization develops in Ukraine.

As reported, on June 5, 2018, GE Transportation and JSC Kryukov Railway Car Building Works signed the agreement the localization of production of 30 Evolution Series TE33A locomotives.
