UAH 1 bln to be allocated for primary school and wage increase for teachers in 2019

UAH 1 billion is stipulated in Ukraine’s state budget for 2019 for the modernization of educational system of a primary school and the increase in teachers' salaries by 9%.
Education and Science Minister Lilia Hrynevych said this at the Forum of Publishers in Lviv, the press service of the Education and Science Ministry reported.
"Despite all the difficulties of the next year's budget, we managed to include the investment for the next year - UAH 1 billion for the educational system for first-graders who will come to study in 2019," the minister said.
She also noted that next year teachers' salaries would be increased by 9%.
"This is obviously insufficient increase in wages. I hope that during the process of finalizing the budget in the parliament we will be able to get more preferences for education. But still some increase in wages will happen," the minister added.
