The IMF has refrained from commenting on possible substitution of current EFF program for Ukraine by a new IMF standby, noting the discussions with Kyiv are ongoing.

The corresponding statement was made by IMF’s Communications Department Director Gerry Rice on Thursday, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"We have had a staff team in Kyiv discussing with the Ukrainian authorities the continuation of our efforts to support policies on reforms that support macroeconomic stability and growth in Ukraine and on possible financial assistance from the Fund," the IMF representative answered a question from an Ukrinform correspondent about preliminary results of the Fund’s mission visit to Kyiv and possibility of a new standby program for Ukraine.

“I don't have any further detail on those discussions which are ongoing,” Rice added.

He also noted he could not name a specific date for the conclusion of the IMF mission meetings with Ukraine.

As reported, the IMF's mission arrived in Kyiv on September 6 as part of the next review under the EFF (Extended Fund Facility) program for Ukraine and for determining the possibility of allocation of the next tranche.
