Ukraine takes part in IRENA Innovation Week 2018
"One of the urgent issues is planning of electricity grids in a way to provide electricity, including from renewable sources, to a wide range of consumers. In this context, the participants considered the prospects of smart grids. Energy accumulation systems gain increasing importance for the use of clean energy. Their quality grows, and the cost gradually decreases," the press service of the State Agency on Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving of Ukraine reports.
Serhiy Savchuk noted that the Ukrainian market of "green" projects developed rapidly.
"Only in the first half of 2018, we launched about 300 MW of renewable energy facilities, which is more than for the whole 2017," Savchuk commented.
The State Agency on Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving of Ukraine plans to prepare proposals for legislative stimulation of introduction of smart grids, energy accumulation systems, projects involving the use of hydrogen.
As a reminder, Ukraine became a full member of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) in February 2018.
