"The transport link with the EU is not just autobahns, but also the railway. In 2016, a brilliant idea was born to launch a direct railway link between Ukraine and Poland, between Kyiv, Lviv and Przemysl. We launched it. This year, I hope, we will launch a new direct route Mukachevo-Budapest. It is almost ready, it will be extremely successful and will have a demand in the market. Also, on September 28, we open direct link between Kyiv and Minsk, Riga and Vilnius. The railways of Ukraine and the EU countries create a single ring of the countries of Eastern Europe and the Baltic States. I believe that the countries of Europe and the Baltic States will be linked with rail in the coming years," Ukrainian Infrastructure Minister Volodymyr Omelyan said at the conference "Europe of the Carpathians" during the 28th Economic Forum in Poland's Krynica-Zdroj on Wednesday, the Ministry’s press service reports.
"The Ukrainian vector goes west. In 2015, we had come up with the idea of creating a transport corridor that would connect Ukraine, the Ukrainian Black Sea ports with the EU, and we began to implement this idea in 2016. We hope to finish all the works on a new transport corridor connecting Poland with Ukraine and the Baltic Sea with the Black Sea by 2020," the minister noted.
