A total of 4,660 Ukrainian private households installed solar panels with a total capacity of 90 MW by the end of June 2018, the press service of the State Agency on Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving reports.

“In general, 4,660 private households already installed solar panels with a total capacity of nearly 90 MW by the end of the first half of 2018," reads the report.

In the second quarter of 2018, 1,107 households switched to solar power, which is twice as much as in the first quarter. Thus, solar panels are rapidly gaining popularity among the population, the agency said.

Moreover, investments into their installation are estimated at EUR 88 million.

"Such an activity of the population is pleasantly impressive and proves that we introduced an effective incentive in June 2015 - a green tariff for private solar power plants with a capacity of up to 30 kW," said Serhiy Savchuk, the Head of the State Agency on Energy Efficiency.

Leaders in the number of installed private solar power plants e are such regions as Kyiv, Dnipropetrovsk and Ternopil, the agency added.
