Ukraine is expected to reach energy efficiency at the level of 9% by 2020, compared with the situation in 2005-2009, by implementing the European energy efficiency directives.

"Today, all the international partners help Ukraine move towards energy efficiency. However, this path is impossible without the implementation of key European energy efficiency directives and a roadmap, which clearly spells out all international experience in reforming not only the housing and municipal sector but business, transport and infrastructure as well. Ukraine is expected to reach the energy efficiency at the level of 9% by 2020, compared with the situation in 2005-2009, by implementing these directives," the press service of Vice Prime Minister – Minister for Regional Development, Construction, Housing and Utilities of Ukraine Hennady Zubko quotes him as saying.

According to the Ukrainian Vice PM, the next steps in implementation of the energy efficiency program in the country will be creation of information system, development of a communication campaign, introduction of energy audit, certification, commercial accounting and payment discipline.
