National Bank of Ukraine expects to get IMF’s fifth tranche by autumn
NBU Chairman Yakiv Smoliy said this in an interview with ZN.UA portal.
"We expect the fourth revision of the program and the receipt of the fifth tranche of the IMF by the autumn of 2018," he said.
The NBU head also noted that Ukraine assumed certain obligations. For more than a year we have been waiting for the revision of the program for a number of reasons. "The first reason is the formation of a gas price according to the principle of import parity. Under this obligation, we received funding, but we have not fulfilled it yet. The reasons are clear – nobody agrees to raise gas tariffs before the elections," Smoliy said.
"The second reason is the Anti-Corruption Court. This week the Verkhovna Rada finally adopted the bill, and we hope that it will give green light for further negotiations with the IMF," the head of the NBU noted.
Thus, according to Smoliy, since it takes about two months to complete all the procedures, it is possible to receive the next tranche of the loan from the IMF by the autumn of 2018.
At the same time, a new program with the IMF is possible only in2020, the head of the National Bank said.
