Ukraine and Qatar are in talks on supplies of Qatari liquefied gas.

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko said this in an interview with Al Jazeera Qatari broadcaster, the press service of the Head of State reports.

The President stressed that the issue of diversification of gas supply sources was a matter of national security: "Therefore, we are now in talks with Qatar's leadership on supplies of Qatari liquefied natural gas. And I want to say that Qatar can start to export gas to Ukraine.

Gas can be supplied via the existing regasification terminal in Poland. And Ukraine can really get Qatari gas. However, it is only the first step."

According to Poroshenko, there is an agreement with the Qatari partners to invite "our friends from Turkey" for cooperation.

As the Head of State said, Ukraine annually exports goods worth $8 billion to the Arab countries, and, therefore, the cooperation with the Arab world holds a prominent place in Ukraine’s economic strategy and foreign policy. Ukraine seeks to get an observer status in the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, Poroshenko noted.
