Government approves National Transport Strategy until 2030

The corresponding decision was made on May 30 at the Cabinet’s meeting, the press service of the Ministry of Infrastructure of Ukraine reports.

"The National Transport Strategy until 2030 ‘Drive Ukraine 2030’ has been approved at the meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine today, on May 30, 2018," the statement reads.

Infrastructure Minister of Ukraine Volodymyr Omelyan called the Strategy a policy paper that would determine the development of transport and infrastructure industries in the next 12 years.

"Indeed, the document is quite modern and aimed not only at solving the current problems but also at creating a new infrastructure reality. We can endlessly repair roads or modernize railroad cars, which are 40 years old or even older. However, only ambitious plans and a "big infrastructure revolution" can give Ukraine a new quality. The construction of a modern state requires a modern approach," he said.

According to the minister, the strategic goal is to integrate Ukraine into the world economy and technological leap in infrastructure.
