Moldova simplifies road, air services with Ukraine

The Government of Moldova has adopted two resolutions on the liberalization of road transport and air services with Ukraine, the government's press service has reported, according to Ukrinform's correspondent in Moldova.

"Moldovan freight carriers will no longer pay taxes for transit across Ukraine. On the basis of the approved documents, the international carriage of goods both bilaterally and in transit for vehicles conforming to EURO III and above will be carried out in a liberalized regime without the need to hold authorizations for international carriage. Previously, these authorizations cost between 8 and 12 euros per race," the report says.

Statistical data shows that 80 percent of transit shipments are conducted via Ukraine.

The report also notes that Moldovan-Ukrainian cooperation in the field of aviation will also be developed. Air fares will be freely established in accordance with the principles of fair competition. At the same time, the number of companies operating flights between the two countries will be increased.

Bilateral documents in the road transport and aviation sectors were signed on the sidelines of the Kyiv Security Forum on April 12 this year, in the presence of Moldovan and Ukrainian Prime Ministers Pavel Filip and Volodymyr Groysman.
