World Bank praises high efficiency of reforms in Ukraine’s financial sector

The representatives of the World Bank underscore the high efficiency of the reforms implemented in the financial sector of Ukraine.

"Last week, ten executive directors of the World Bank visited Ukraine within the framework of the Eastern Europe tour. As part of their visit, they held a series of meetings with local top officials to discuss further cooperation. The representatives of the World Bank underscored the high efficiency of the reforms implemented in the financial sector," the press service of the National Bank of Ukraine reports.

The further steps of the National Bank of Ukraine and the Finance Ministry of Ukraine to develop the Ukrainian banking system were discussed. In particular, the parties focused on solving the problem of non-earning assets and reducing the high share of state-owned banks in the banking system of Ukraine.

The National Bank stressed the need for further legislative changes, namely, the adoption by the Verkhovna Rada of the laws on restoration of lending, improving the functioning of the financial sector in Ukraine as well as on the registration and further approval of the already developed draft law on asset management companies.
