The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine plans to use a part of the Chornobyl exclusion zone for industrial purposes. The corresponding draft law was elaborated by the Ecology and Natural Resources Ministry of Ukraine and the Chornobyl zone administration.

"We want this territory to become not only a place for innovation. It should be also available for industrial use and make money for Ukraine. I’m talking about a ten-kilometer part of the exclusion zone. We suggest turning it into a territory for special industrial use. Our bill is pending approval by the Cabinet of Ministers. I expect that it will be approved by both the government and the parliament in the near future. In fact, this is yet another step towards investors who are ready to work in the exclusion zone," Ecology and Natural Resources Minister of Ukraine Ostap Semerak said, the Government portal reports.

In addition, Ukraine is open for continuing investments in the construction of more powerful solar power plants in the Chornobyl zone, the minister noted.
