Wizz Air, the largest low-cost airline in Central and Eastern Europe, has begun flights from Kharkiv to Dortmund.

According to an Ukrinform correspondent, Kharkiv became the third Ukrainian city for Wizz Air after Kyiv and Lviv.

"The demand among Ukrainian passengers for Wizz Air services has grown, and the company has met them halfway. Flights from Kharkiv to Dortmund will be operated by an Airbus A320 twice a week - on Thursdays and Sundays. Today, the first 150 passengers flew from Dortmund to Kharkiv and another 150 flew back from Kharkiv to Dortmund," Sorina Ratz, Acting Head of Corporate Communications at Wizz Air, said at the inauguration ceremony on Thursday, April 5.

According to her, the price of the ticket will start from UAH 869.

"In June, the low-cost airline will conduct flights from Kharkiv to Katowice and in November to Vienna," she added.

According to Ratz, a second Airbus A320 was added to the Kyiv base this spring. "In addition, flights from Lviv to Berlin and Wroclaw resumed in spring," she said.

It was announced at the ceremony that the expansion of Wizz Air's activities stimulates the local economy by increasing employment in the aviation and tourism sectors, as well as in related industries throughout the country. The issue concerns the creation of 600 jobs in Ukraine.

According to the company, in January-October 2017, about 590,000 passengers used Wizz Air services on flights to Ukraine and from Ukraine, or 75% more than in the same period in 2016.
