Ukraine’s Mriya aircraft takes off for first commercial flight

The world's largest AN-225 Mriya transport aircraft will take off for its first commercial flight from Leipzig, Germany.

"April 3, 2018, the world's largest An-225 Mriya transport aircraft departs from Kyiv to Leipzig (Germany), from where it will take off for its first commercial flight," Antonov State Company reports on Facebook.

As noted, the departure from the airport "Kyiv-Antonov" in Hostomel is scheduled for 17:00.

No details about the commercial flight are disclosed.

An-225 Mriya (NATO codename: Cossack) is the world's largest and most powerful transport aircraft, created by the Ukrainian Antonov Design Bureau. Having a maximum takeoff weight of 640 tonnes, it is the heaviest aircraft in the world.
