IMF Permanent Representative to Ukraine Gösta Ljungman stated this in Kyiv on Thursday, Ukrinform learnt this from the press service of the IMF Representative Office in Ukraine.
"We welcome the appointment of Yakiv Smoliy as head of the National Bank of Ukraine and look forward to working with him and the institute he chairs. Over the past few years, the NBU has made striking progress in the issues of monetary policy and revitalization of the banking system; and it has been an important anchor of stability in Ukraine," he said.
As reported, on March 15, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine appointed Yakiv Smoliy as governor of the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU). A total of 247 MPs voted for the adoption of the respective draft resolution.
