The National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) on July 1, 2018 will stop issuing 1, 2, 5 and 25 kopiyka coins.

Acting NBU Governor Yakiv Smoliy stated this during the presentation of the circulating coins with a nominal value of 1, 2, 5, 10 hryvnias, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"The National Bank decided that the rounding up of total amounts of cash payments will be introduced in Ukraine on July 1, 2018. This means that the National Bank of Ukraine will stop issuing coins with a nominal value 1, 2, 5 and 25 kopiykas. At the same time, these small coins will remain in circulation, but cash circulation will not be replenished with new coins with the mentioned nominal value in the future,” Smoliy said.

He also noted that 1, 2, 5 and 25 kopiyka coins will continue functioning as a means of payment and the Ukrainian currency unit hryvnia will be equal to 100 kopiykas.
