The European Investment Bank (EIB) and the Eastern Europe Energy Efficiency and Environmental Partnership (E5P) have signed two agreements on allocating EUR 16.4 million for Ukraine’s energy efficiency.

The signing of the agreements took place at the EU Office in Ukraine, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"Energy efficiency or "hidden fuel" for Ukraine is another step towards energy independence. The agreements that we signed today are grants worth EUR 16.4 million," E5P Manager Anders Lund said.

EIB Vice President Vazil Hudák notes that the first agreement worth EUR 10 million concerns the education field in Ukraine.

"This assistance will be used to upgrade educational institutions and to modernize facades, ventilation, heating and lighting. It is important to note that this assistance is provided in the form of a grant worth EUR 10 million," he said.

The second agreement concerns the heating system in the city of Kryvyi Rih [EUR 6.4 million].
