Energy Ministry announces end of gas crisis situation in Ukraine

Ukrinform
The Energy and Coal Industry Ministry has announced about the end of the gas crisis situation in Ukraine from March 7.

Advisor to the energy minister, Maksym Biliavsky, wrote this on Facebook.

"The crisis committee at the Energy and Coal Industry Ministry has just decided to announce the end of the crisis situation and the transition to routine mode from March 7, 2018," he wrote.

As Ukrinform earlier reported, the Energy and Coal Industry Ministry on March 2 imposed temporary restrictions on gas consumption in Ukraine because Russia’s Gazprom had refused to supply gas to Ukraine.

In February 2018, Naftogaz of Ukraine made a prepayment to Gazprom, waiting for the start of gas supplies from March 1. However, the Russian company returned the full amount and refused to supply gas.

On March 2, Naftogaz and Poland's company PGNiG signed a short-term contract on the supply of small volumes of gas to Ukraine until the end of March.
