Ukraine needs to continue cooperation with IMF – NBU

Ukrinform
Ukraine’s National Bank considers that Ukraine needs to continue its cooperation with the IMF despite the successful access to foreign capital markets and the victory of Naftogaz in the Stockholm arbitration court.

Acting Chairman of the NBU Yakiv Smoliy said this during a briefing, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"The continuation of cooperation with the IMF is a prerequisite for carrying out the reforms. We cannot say how Naftogaz will manage the funds won in the court, which it has not received yet. Therefore, the cooperation with the IMF and obtaining tranches are necessary for replenishment of gold and foreign currency reserves," Smoliy said.

He notes that the National Bank still expects to receive funds from the IMF this year.

As Ukrinform previously reported, the NBU expects to receive about $2 billion from the IMF this year.
