The Cabinet of Ministers has been determined Ukraine’s GDP growth at 5-7% as its benchmark in the economic policy.

Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman stated this at a meeting with economic experts, the government’s press service reports.

“The economic development is our priority. The growth of 5-7% is essential, this is what we will be working at,” the prime minister said.

He also stressed that among other government’s priorities for this year are the privatization of non-strategic state assets and the corporatization of strategically important state-owned companies.

When speaking with the experts, Groysman also emphasized the necessity to involve relevant ministers in the discussion and hold similar meetings at the level of experts and key decision makers.

The experts, in turn, suggested additional directions of work and stressed that the government should focus on the development of the securities market, accelerate the reforms of education and healthcare, as well as the reform of the extraction industry, especially the coal industry.

The experts also stressed that among other topical issues are the improvement of the system of public finances, inter-budgetary relations, the further de-shadowing of the economy, the strengthening of decentralization and the solution of problems related with the inefficient work of local authorities, which slows the process of forming the united territorial communities.
