Real wages in Ukraine in 2017 grew by 19%, which is 10% more compared with the previous year.

Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman stated this at a government sitting on Wednesday, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"We managed to get an increase in wages by 19% last year. Nominal growth was higher, but we understand that inflation and a rise in prices have affected the fact that real wages increased by only 19%, although they grew by 9% in the year 2016,” Groysman said.

He noted that the majority of Ukrainians are concerned about rising prices.

"People are right - prices are rising, so our task is to make people's income grow faster than prices rise. The problem of rising prices is common for any economy, including the developed ones. But the conditions we have today - this question is especially sensitive," Groysman said.
