E-declarations of activists: Venice Commission, OSCE to prepare joint conclusions

The Venice Commission and the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (OSCE/ODIHR) will reveal their opinion on two anti-corruption bills on e-declarations for members of Ukrainian NGOs at a meeting of the European Commission on March 16.

This was discussed during the meeting of Director of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine Artem Sytnik with the members of the official delegation of the European Commission for Democracy through Law (Venice Commission) and a representative of the OSCE/ODIHR, the press service of NABU reports.

"During a visit to Ukraine on January 30-31, the members of the official delegation of the European Commission for Democracy through Law (Venice Commission) and a representative of the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights visited the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine and discussed with its leadership the progress of the fight against corruption," the statement reads.

In particular, the director of NABU outlined his opinion on the provisions of the draft laws No. 6675 (“On Amendments to the Tax Code of Ukraine to ensure openness to the public information on the financing of the activities of public associations and the use of international technical assistance”) and No. 6674 (“On Amendments to Some Legislative Acts on ensuring openness to society providing of information on financing of the activities of public associations and the use of international technical assistance”), mentioning their possible effect on the activity of NABU.

As a result of the discussion, the Venice Commission and the OSCE/ODIHR will prepare joint conclusions, which will be unveiled on March 16, 2018 during the plenary session of the European Commission, the NABU press service reports.
