Ukrzaliznytsia to sign contract with General Electric in Feb - Omelyan

The contract with U.S. company General Electric regarding the modernization of the rolling stock of PJSC Ukrzaliznytsia is to be signed in February 2018, Ukrainian Infrastructure Minister Volodymyr Omelyan has said in an interview with Business.Censor.NET.

"We hope that the contract will be ready for signing by the end of January. Then we will be able to sign it in early February. In this case we expect the first deliveries to be made in September-October. We'll see whether it's possible to realize such a plan," he said.

As Ukrinform reported, PJSC Ukrzaliznytsya held talks with U.S. company General Electric. According to Ukrzaliznytsia Head Yevhen Kravtsov, large-scale modernization of the rolling stock of the Ukrainian railways will begin in September 2018, in cooperation with General Electric. Kravtsov said that cooperation with the U.S. giant was a strategic project for Ukrzaliznytsia.

In particular, PJSC Ukrzaliznytsia plans to buy up to 30 new diesel locomotives in 2018 under a program of cooperation with General Electric, as well as more than 7,000 freight cars and 60 passenger cars.
