The meeting was held within the framework of the 48th World Economic Forum in Davos, the press service of the Head of State reports.
"The parties discussed ways to further integrate the Ukrainian energy market into the EU market, as well as possible mechanisms for Ukraine to join the EU Energy Union," the statement reads.
The Head of State thanked the EU and personally the European Commissioner for their continued support for Ukraine in the implementation of energy reforms and ensuring our energy independence.
At the same time, he assured that Ukraine was committed to further reform the energy sector according to its obligations within the Treaty establishing the Energy Community and the Association Agreement with the EU.
In addition, the parties "expressed content” with the completion of the work necessary for the launch of the Energy Efficiency Fund of Ukraine. The EU is planning to allocate EUR 100 million to this Fund.
