Ukraine should start talks on new program of cooperation with IMF in 2018 - NBU

The National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) believes that in 2018, it is advisable to start negotiations on launching a new program of cooperation with the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

Director of the NBU's Department of Financial Stability Vitaliy Vavryshchuk said this at a briefing on the financial stability report on Monday, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"The National Bank believes that next year it is advisable to start negotiations on launching a new program with the IMF, as the current program expires in early 2019, and it is critically important for us to maintain cooperation with the IMF," Vavryshchuk said.

He also noted that the National Bank expects to receive two tranches from the IMF in 2018.

As Ukrinform reports, the National Bank expects that in 2018, Ukraine will receive two tranches from the IMF for a total of $3.5 billion.
