Poroshenko, Fico discuss gas transportation to Ukraine through Slovakia
The leaders met as part of the Eastern Partnership summit in Brussels on Friday, the press service of the head of state reported.
"During his working visit to Brussels, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko met with the head of the Slovak Government, Robert Fico. The interlocutors exchanged their views on the issues of Ukrainian-Slovak bilateral relations. The parties emphasized their intention to strengthen the economic component of bilateral cooperation, in particular to continue the transportation of gas through Slovakia to Ukraine," reads the report.
"In this regard, the sides noted the importance of resuming the activity of the mixed intergovernmental commission on economic, industrial and scientific-technical cooperation, the next meeting of which is scheduled for the first half of 2018. They also discussed interaction in the field of energy security," the report says.
The interlocutors also discussed the strengthening of international contacts between the two countries and the development of cross-border cooperation.
In addition, the sides coordinated their positions on cooperation in the European direction, taking into account the agenda of the Eastern Partnership summit.
As reported, on November 23-24, Poroshenko is on a working visit to Brussels, where the fifth Eastern Partnership summit is taking place.
