Poroshenko, Aliyev call for expanding trade between Ukraine, Azerbaijan
According to a statement posted on the official website of the Ukrainian president, the meeting took place as part of Poroshenko's working visit to Brussels.
"The heads of state discussed a wide range of issues on the agenda of the Ukrainian-Azerbaijani strategic partnership. The Ukrainian president praised the progress in the implementation of the agreements reached at the level of the leaders of the countries, in particular, the positive level of bilateral cooperation in the energy sector," the statement reads.
It also notes that Poroshenko emphasized the importance of Ukrainian-Azerbaijani cooperation in infrastructure projects, mutual support for investment, as well as cooperation on privatization issues.
"The interlocutors discussed political cooperation, directions of the development of economic cooperation between the two countries, as well as cooperation within international organizations. The leaders of both countries agreed on the need to expand trade and economic cooperation between the states," the statement reads.
