The State Agency on Energy Efficiency and Energy Saving of Ukraine works fruitfully with the Ukraine-Denmark Energy Center (UDEC) to increase the investment attractiveness of renewable energy and stimulate industry to energy efficiency in Ukraine.

The agency's chairman, Serhiy Savchuk, said this in an interview with Danish customer experience agency Nordlid, according to the Ukrainian government website.

According to Savchuk, Denmark is one of the world's leading countries in renewable energy. According to Eurostat, in 2015, more than 51% of electricity in Denmark was produced from "clean" sources, and the largest share in this area is taken by wind power.

"Cooperation between Ukraine and Denmark is mutually beneficial. Danish renewable energy producers can appreciate the benefits of implementing projects in Ukraine, because today we have one of the highest 'green' tariffs in Europe and, moreover, with a tie to the euro. Long-term contracts for the purchase of 'clean' energy at the 'green' tariff are also foreseen," he said.

The statement notes that among the main areas of joint work of the agency and UDEC are an analysis of the possibilities of increasing the production of heat from "clean" sources, the creation of incentives for the implementation of projects on energy production from renewable sources and waste in Ukraine, the development of mechanisms for increasing energy efficiency in industry, and the improvement of the UAMAP Interactive Investment Map of Ukraine.

Cooperation between Denmark and Ukraine in developing heat recovery from renewable sources is particularly fruitful. At present, the agency and UDEC, together with Denmark's Ramboll and the Bioenergy Association of Ukraine, are developing an economic model for the installation of biomass cogeneration plants. Thanks to this model investors will be able to analyze the prospects of implementing such projects in Ukraine.
