Ukraine ramps up agricultural exports by 24.3%

In January-September 2017, the exports of Ukrainian agricultural products increased by 24.3% compared to the corresponding period of 2016 and totaled USD 13.07 billion or 41.7% of Ukraine's total exports.

This is reported by the press service of the Agrarian Policy and Food Ministry of Ukraine.

"The countries of Asia accounted for the greatest share of our agricultural exports ($5.525 billion). The EU countries accounted for $4.177 billion, the countries of Africa - $1.997 billion," Deputy Agrarian Policy and Food Minister for European Integration Olha Trofimtseva noted.

According to her, the most significant items in the structure of exports were sunflower oil (24.8%), maize (18%), wheat and a mixture of wheat and rye (14.45%), soybeans (4.84%), barley (4.6%) and rapeseed (4.6%).

"We should note a significant increase in exports of certain commodity items compared to the previous year. For example, the exports of leguminous vegetables accounted for $20.9 million, butter and other milk fats - $64.2 million, frozen beef - $34.1 million. In addition, the exports of apricots, cherries, peaches and plums became 8.4 times greater and amounted to $6.4 million," Trofimtseva noted.
