Ukraine has needed resources to transfer to green energy by 2050 - Boell Foundation Office in Ukraine

Ukraine has all the opportunities to ensure 91% of its own energy needs due to the renewable energy sources by 2050.

These are the findings of the research entitled “Ukraine’s transition to renewable energy by 2050” conducted by the Heinrich Boell Foundation’s Office in Ukraine, the government’s press service reports.

“The findings of the research show that Ukraine has all the opportunities to ensure 91% of its own energy needs due to the green energy by 2050. The transition will take place first of all due to the wind, solar and biomass energy,” reads the report.

According to the lead author of the research, Oleksandr Dyachuk, the country’s transition to renewable energy sources by 2050 is quite real. The share of the wind power stations in the overall structure of energy production may reach up to 45%, solar power stations – up to 36%, while biomass and waste may reach up to 73% in the overall structure of thermal power production.
