Decentralization reform in Ukraine is quite successful - Berend de Groot

Head of the Cooperation Programmes at the EU Delegation to Ukraine Berend de Groot said this at a meeting with the leadership of the Kherson Regional State Administration on Thursday, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"Two years ago, when the Government of Ukraine started the decentralization reform, we and other international partners decided to help and to support this reform. When we look at this [the decentralization reforms in Ukraine] from the international level, we will see that this reform is quite successful, taking into account the time span and the results that we see now," he said.

At the same time, he noted that "despite the fact that we have achieved a lot [in the implementation of the decentralization reform in Ukraine] we have not yet reached a final point."

Berend de Groot also emphasized that such reform is not an easy process for any country.
