Transiting Russian gas through the Ukrainian gas transportation system after 2020 remains to be a priority in the activities of the European Commission.

Maros Šefčovič , European Commission Vice-President for Energy Union said this at the 14th Annual Meeting of the Yalta European Strategy (YES) in Kyiv on Friday, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"Ukraine has great potential to become an energy hub. I should note that important gas transiting through Ukraine after 2020 is a priority for the European Union," he said.

The European Commission Vice-President for Energy Union praised significant progress in reforming the Ukrainian economy, despite the difficult conditions caused by the war on the eastern border.
