Beer production in Ukraine continues to decline

In January-August 2017, the volume of beer production in Ukraine amounted to 129.1 million dal, or 98% against the same period in 2016, according to a report published by Ukrainian beverage company Ukrpyvo. 

“An expert estimate of the beer production volume in Ukraine (apart from non-alcoholic beer with an alcohol content of less than 0.5%) for the eight months in 2017 totaled 129.1 million dal, or 98.0% for the same period in 2016," reads the report.

The company also said that the production of malt during the same period totaled 208,006 tonnes, which is 109.3 for the same period in 2016.

As earlier reported, the volume of beer production in Ukraine in 2016 totaled 179.8 million dal.

As earlier reported, the excise duties on alcohol in Ukraine grew in January 2017. In particular, the excise duty on beer rose by UAH 2.78 per 1 liter. Ukrpyvo stated on a decrease in beer production for the third year in a row.
