Vice PM Kubiv: About $35 bln needed for modernization of infrastructure in Ukraine

More than $35 billion is needed to modernize outdated infrastructure in Ukraine, and it is impossible as of now to provide such financial resource without private capital.

First Vice Prime Minister, Economic Development and Trade Minister of Ukraine Stepan Kubiv said this during presentation of the draft law on concessions, elaborated by the Economic Development and Trade Ministry of Ukraine and the EBRD and international advisers, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

"We allocate money and make great efforts to repair roads. According to expert estimates, over $35 billion is needed to upgrade the outdated infrastructure," Kubiv said.

According to him, this sum should be concentrated and diversified between the projects necessary for implementation of the European infrastructure standards.

"It is impossible to provide such financial resource without private capital, and the public-private partnership is one of the tools of modern infrastructure development," Kubiv said.
