Ukrainian diaspora to call on international institutions to switch Russia off SWIFT

President of the Ukrainian World Congress (UWC), Eugene Czolij, has said that the Ukrainian diaspora will call on relevant international institutions to switch Russia off the SWIFT international system.

Eugene Czolij stated this in the Verkhovna Rada at a round table meeting dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the Ukrainian World Congress, an Ukrinform correspondent reports.

“We will appeal to the relevant international institutions and heads of countries, where the Ukrainian diaspora live, so that they impose a powerful economic sanction and cut Russia off the SWIFT system, so that there can be a political signal that the international society doesn’t support such a shameful violation of international laws,” said Eugene Czolij.

The Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunications (SWIFT) is a messaging banking network to securely transmit information and instructions through a standardized system of codes.
