The Council of the European Union has approved granting of additional autonomous trade preferences to Ukraine for duty-free export of certain types of Ukrainian products.

This decision became one of the final steps for the preferences for Ukraine to take effect, an Ukrinform correspondent reported.

"The aim of the proposals is to improve the access of the Ukrainian exporters to the EU market, taking into account the difficult economic situation and the economic reforms in Ukraine," the EU Council stated.

As noted, after the completion of all formal procedures, this decision will enter into force at the end of September of 2017.
